Diesel Motors

Engine

Hard-working turbocharged diesels can literally tear engine oil apart. Elevated heat and shearing forces can thin the oil until it fails to provide adequate protection, leaving components susceptible to wear and failure. The sophisticated emissions-control devices on 2007-and-newer diesels make things worse. Fuel dilution from DPF regeneration or excessive idling further thins the oil, while excess soot from EGR and blow-by leads to harmful sludge formation and abrasive wear. AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils are designed to withstand the punishment doled out by diesel engines. They provide excellent protection during heavy use and even abuse.

Transmissions

Extreme heat generated when towing and hauling destroys inferior transmission fluids and shortens transmission life. Heat is especially harmful in today’s smaller transmissions that hold less fluid but are required to direct increased power and torque. Inferior transmission fluids coupled with severe-service driving can lead to fluid leaks, poor shift quality and expensive transmission repairs. AMSOIL synthetic transmission fluids resist extreme heat to keep gears, bearings and seals protected in the toughest driving conditions.

Fuel Systems

Fuel system performance is critical to getting the most out of your diesel, and modern high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) designs just add to the challenge. Fuel economy and performance are highly dependent on getting the right amount of fuel into the combustion chamber in the correct physical form at the correct time. With variable diesel fuel quality at the pump and today’s sophisticated fuel-delivery systems, it doesn’t take long for performance issues to surface. Plus, today’s ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) doesn’t have the lubricating properties diesel fuel once had, inviting fuel pump and injector wear. Highly concentrated AMSOIL diesel fuel additives are designed to maximize fuel-system performance and life, helping prevent expensive repairs and injector replacements in all types of diesel engines, including HPCR.

Differentials

Too often differentials are out of sight, out of mind. Towing and heavy hauling, however, focus intense pressure on the ring-and-pinion gears, inviting wear. Intense heat causes gear lube to thin, reducing viscosity and further increasing heat in a cycle known as thermal runaway. Left unchecked, thermal runaway can shorten component life and lead to catastrophic failure. AMSOIL Severe Gear® Synthetic Gear Lube delivers high film strength to protect against wear and outstanding heat resistance to guard against thermal runaway.
